How to make more money with the clients you already have

I’m pretty sure you’ve heard it before, it’s much cheaper to retain existing clients than to bring in new clients constantly. You don’t need to convince them about how good you are, because you already proved yourself to them. They know you, trust you and love to work with you.

So how can you do this? I hoped you ask this question 😊

The easiest way is to know your clients/ideal client avatar. Don’t roll your eyes, I’ll explain 😂

Have you seen any Come dine with me episodes? It’s a tv series where a group of strangers (5 people) compete for the title of the ultimate dinner party host. They visit each other’s home and every night someone else cooks and entertain them and the guests judge them and give them points based on the food and their hospitality skills.

Of course, it’s very biased. It’s quite funny. The chefs’ cooking skills are varied. But the more interesting thing is that those who cook later should/could be able to see in advance if they should tweak their menu to accommodate their guests on their day.

How or why? Because they had conversations. They have a better understanding of them. They can ask questions on the nights before they need to cook. They can do their research. The best position to be in is the last as they already know the group quite well.

Knowing your ideal client is like knowing who you are cooking dinner for. You need to know their favourite food, what they don’t like and if they have food allergies. If you know their circumstances you can cook something that takes them back to their childhood, you know with the ‘oh, it’s just like my grandma used to make’ meal. This will help you create the perfect meal for them!

And because you did not fall for the amateur mistake, you created your offer based on your ideal client and not on ‘whatever you can sell’. And because you want to sell that offer you put your thinking cap on to figure out what they need after you did the thing with them. What do they need after they worked with you/purchased your offer? What would be the next logical step?

And that’s what you’re offering for them. Most programmes fail because there’s no accountability, implementation or additional help. So you can offer just that as an add-on, a monthly retainer or anything like that.

You can offer them a low-cost membership where they can ask you questions via certain channels on certain days. I actually do this too.
