Details matter in science and business because they help us understand the world and make decisions (and this is the keyword here). In science, detailed observations lead to a better understanding of the natural world. Scientists use measurements and data to formulate theories about how the world works.

Businesses similarly need to gather accurate information to make informed decisions. Especially buying ones. When companies don’t take the time to pick the correct details, they can end up making poor decisions that could have long-term consequences.

However, getting accurate information can be difficult. Because service providers, coaches and consultants don’t want to talk about their processes and methods. Which makes it more challenging to sell their offers. Not to mention, it takes significantly longer too.

And it is tough to buy their offers. Why would that be hard? Thanks for asking.

Let’s imagine you run a department in a corporate; you’re the head of the department or the director. You have tons of things on your plate, like managing your staff, winning new businesses, growing your customer base, ensure steady growth for the company. And everything else the wind throws at you with high velocity.

You’re under a lot of pressure. You’re responsible for your staff, and let’s be honest, they’re under stress. Yes, there’s ‘some’ turbulence in the market.

So, to ease the stress and pressure that you and your team experience to hit the numbers, you start to look for external help. You’re open to receiving unsolicited emails, messages and phone calls and actively looking for solutions.

You research and find a few websites that might offer the solution. But you’re unsure because you don’t get the ‘real thing’. You don’t fully understand how the ‘thing’, their offer would work. There are no processes, just something very vague explanation about why those offers are great.

You read the feature-benefit description of their offer and perhaps a couple of reviews and case studies with not much tangible info. You’re frustrated AF because it takes ages to shortlist the providers you want to ask to provide you with a proposal. You have no clue what they sell exactly and how that offer works.

So you’ve seen some blabla on their website and a fairly generic offer description. You decide to ask 5-10 service providers to pitch their solutions for you. Yeah, you know it’s a waste of time and ‘you do their work’ because you don’t understand how they can really help (if they can) to solve your situation.

This takes some time, but eventually, everyone sends you a proposal after ages and ages due to the lack of detailed information about the offers. Of course, by this time, you wasted so much valuable time that you might be resentful. “Don’t they want money? Don’t they want clients? Why do they make it hard for me to hire them?” – you’re thinking to yourself.

So the pitches you receive are barely useable. They’re full of sentences like “we help you grow your business by [social media/advertising/or any other thing that might offer a solution for you to hit your target]. The 82 pages of proposals are boring, long-winded and very similar to each other. 

You literally can’t differentiate between them because they all sound the same. So what do you do? Send the proposals to others in the business to help you decide. Yup that eats up more time. And once finance gets involved, the decision will be toward the cheapest option. After all, there were no processes, unique methods or anything been explained.

Happy days, you have the winner, and now you can start to work together. The sales process took 2-3 months instead of a week top, but hey, you’re still happy.

Let’s suppose that the offer you just purchased does what it says on the tin, and you’re all relieved and hit your target. What would you suggest to those service providers, coaches and consultants who pitched their offers to you?

I bet you would advise them to make it clear and easy to understand what they sell. To show the details so that you can decide based on the offer and not its price.

To differentiate themselves by showcasing their unique method. To give the info you or anyone else actually need when they want to buy a higher (or lower) priced offer.

To remind them that it’s THEIR JOB to tell you what they do, how they do it and what results/outcomes you can have. 

And now, let me ask you a question; do you have a straightforward, unique method? A method that perfectly explains what you do and how so prospective clients won’t need to jump through unnecessary hoops and loops just to get a sense of how you can help them.

Not just corporate buyers think this way. No one wants to waste time on figuring out basic stuff. If anyone needs a service, they want to immediately understand if that would work for them without watching hours of webinars and training material.

And this brings us to this point; you need to pinpoint your uniqueness (this is what most people say to use as their USP, but that’s just a fragment of the whole picture). You need to pinpoint the uniqueness of your offer (that’s exactly in the method) and the uniqueness of your business (the overarching umbrella).

If you have these three combined, you will be outstanding. You will be different, and prospects will know exactly what they buy from you. And that, my friend, results in more and quicker sales.
